Happy 4th of July!

Hello everyone,

Calvin has had an all American kind of 4th of July. We watched the US team lose in the world cup with Aaron the weekend before last, then a couple days later he got out to see his first professional baseball game with our local team the Vermont Lake Monsters. We had a ball, until the mosquitoes came out and tried to carry us all off.

Calvin went in to the pediatricians office last week as well. At that time, he was up to 14 pounds 4 ounces! His weight and length are both in the 95th percentile! We see Dr Steve Hale (from the 1982 UNC championship basketball team) and he was very pleased with Calvin's progress to date!

Then this weekend, we went to the beach on Saturday. We went up to Sand Bar state park, up in the islands of Lake Champlain. We had to watch the vicious sea gulls but other than that we had a really nice time. Calvin slept for much of the afternoon while mom and dad enjoyed a picnic and swimming. Calvin got his feet wet, but thought the water was too cold for his liking.

That night we went up to Overlook park and watched the fireworks from up on the hill. We could see the fireworks from all over the area, across the lake, up toward Colchester, and then of course the Burlington display as well. Calvin did very well with the fireworks, seemed a littleAdd Image underwhelmed by the whole thing, and took the opportunity to get in a nice nap.

We have also done a good bit of entertaining lately. Friday we had Dan and Maureen over for dinner, and we had a great time with them. Calvin liked meeting them as well, and had a nice night hanging out. Monday afternoon Grandma and Grandpa came over to celebrate the fourth with us and see Calvin. We had a nice time with them, and Calvin enjoyed showing off some of his new tricks for them.

Speaking of new tricks, while he has not rolled over yet, Calvin has been much more interactive lately. He has been bringing his hands together, he has been tracking with his eyes, and watching his mobile intently. He smiles a lot, and is holding his head up well. He loves his play mat and has begun batting the rattles and other things hanging from it.
