All about Calvin

Calvin is an amazing baby, with lots of energy and calmness about him all at once. It is so much fun seeing him grow. For all of you who are seeing him grow with us, here are some new pictures:

Sometimes Calvin can be serious...

But a lot of times he is light-hearted. He likes to spend time in his saucer, and reaches out to test the gadgets.

Calvin reaches for his toes, and does a good job sitting up. He gets lots of practice, but isn't ready to do it all by himself yet, so Daddy gives him a hand.

Calvin is very interested in the world around him.

He is amused by familiar faces, and loves to smile at them.

He likes to make everyone smile along with him. And who could resist?!

And then, he gets really excited and shakes his legs around.

In this he's chatting and playing with his musical pack-n-play friends:

A Visit From Leslie

Meghan's Aunt Leslie came to town to visit at the end of August, and got to meet Calvin for the first time. Calvin had a ball during Leslie's visit, and together they went to the Shelburne Museum, Ben & Jerry's factory, and ate yummy food. We all had a great visit from Leslie, and hope she comes again soon!

Calvin really liked our picnic lunch at the museum.

It was a great day for it too, with sunshine and lots of interesting sights!

Calvin wanted some yummy ice cream, but Mommy said he couldn't try any yet, so he stuck with his binki.

He was pretty happy with the arrangement, and soon he forgot about the ice cream because he was having such a good time.

Calvin loves the water

Bath time is one of Calvin's favorite times, especially since he got a new personalized towel from Amy, Kory, and Sam (thank you!).

Rib-bit!

Daddy likes it almost as much as Calvin does. Fortunately for Calvin, it has his name right on it, and it doesn't fit Daddy as well as him (though it looks just as cute).

Late in August, Calvin finally got to stick his feet in some water other than in his nightly bath. We took him to Sandbar Beach for the day last weekend to soak up some late summer sun, and had a great time!

Daddy and Calvin love to play together, wherever they are, and especially at the beach.

Here's a close-up

The water's warm!

Calvin is wondering if he will float or not.

Better stay with Daddy just in case!

Calvin's rolling like a locomotive!

Calvin has been rolling over like a log for a couple weeks now. He went through a phase where he would roll over in his sleep and then cry about it (imagine, the nerve!). He has now gotten used to sleeping on his tummy, and we are enjoying more sleep again. Here is some warm up footage before he figured out how to do the real thing. There will be some more footage coming soon!

Rockin' & Rollin'

Wow, Calvin is so full of energy and is learning how to put it in motion! He's rolling over, and over and over. We practice and have tummy time a lot. He is growing strong and seems like he wants to crawl when he's on his tummy too! He reaches for his toys and grabs them expertly. He is becoming aware of his feet, and loves to have them tickled. He laughs a lot, and it is so contagious. We have so much fun together, whatever we are doing.
Aside from all the rolling and moving, Calvin went to visit Aunt Bee, who has a wonderful smile. Mommy didn't think she had enough pictures of Calvin and her together, so Aunt Bee took a bunch for them at her house.
Calvin also had a surprise visitor - Uncle Matt!!! He visited us during his recent trip from Virginia. Calvin had a great time with Matt, and hopes he will visit again soon!

Enjoy the pictures!

Calvin on his tummy.

Calvin's looking a little drowsy,

but he's still alert and taking it all in.

Here he is with his good friend the monkey.

He's on a special blanket that was Daddy's when he was a baby, hoping that NASA gets more funding in the future so that he can become an astronaut.

Here's the beginning of a roll...

Ah, there we go!

He'll be pulling himself up soon!

Here are some bright toys from Matt and Kiki that Calvin loves to grab and chew.

Hanging out at Aunt Bee's house.

Aunt Bee loves to play with Calvin.

Mommy loves to give Calvin kisses.

He loves to play airplane too, and it usually makes him laugh and squeal!

Mommy's so proud of her lil' guy!

And so is Daddy!

He likes to feed Calvin when he gets the chance, so they can spend some special time together.

Calvin, who's at the door?

It's Uncle Matt!

Calvin thinks Uncle Matt is a ton of fun!

We've had a fun week, with just a few more pictures.

Calvin loves to rock around to Bob Marley!

Peace & love everyone -
Calvin

Calvin Loves to Play!

Here are some new pictures to show you how much Calvin has grown by early August. He has learned how to grasp objects and bring them to his mouth. He must taste everything, by the way! I bet he'll master sitting up before we know it (as you'll see below, we're helping him with this for now).
Calvin loves his new bright toys that people have given him. I think his favorite color right now is red. He especially loves the balls that Gee Gee and Pop Pop sent from Seattle. Thanks to everyone for the treats you have given to Calvin! Calvin also got a bunch of stuff from Cousin Joseph, Aunt Sara, and Uncle Alex. Thanks guys, we love the new outfits! Kiki and Matt gave him a bunch of great mobile/reach-for/ hanging toys that keep him busy and entertained as well.

He's our little sunshine.
Calvin likes the song that Grandma sang to Mommy when she was a baby too.

Look at him hold the ball with utmost concentration.

Looks edible, he decides!

One morning, Calvin and Mommy work on sitting up.

Jerry the Giraffe lends Calvin a hand. (Thanks Aunt Katie! Calvin had to pry his very first stuffed animal/toy away from Mommy before he could play with it though).

They are doing it!

Well, Calvin may not be ready for sitting up for real yet, but that is okay with us. He will soon enough, we know, and are in no hurry to have him grow up.

Calvin Hits the Beach!

Calvin stayed busy right through the end of July. He is getting bigger every day, and we think he has even started teething! It seems like the faucet has been turned on full blast, and the drool is flowing non-stop these days! Calvin passed a milestone in his development - he has learned how to roll over!
See the drool?

Calvin chews on his whole fist now, not just his thumb (sorry Gee Gee - it's unstoppable)!

Unfortunately, Calvin is growing out of these cute clothes already - he's getting so big!

We took a trip to Hampton Beach, NH for the weekend, and it was so much fun! The water was too cold for Calvin, though Mommy and Daddy braved it! Calvin hung out in the shade tent that Daddy set up... Check out this picture.

Don't worry, it was very stable!

Calvin took a nice long walk along the beach with Daddy,

and Mommy, of Course!

Calvin had a great time, and talked up a storm (and kept right on drooling).

Improvising bath time at our waterfront apartment rental. He didn't fit in that sink, but we made do.

Awh, relaxing at the beach!

Our second day set-up was much better!!!

Mommy buried Daddy in the sand while Calvin took a nap. It was Daddy's first time doing this!

And then Mommy got buried by Daddy.

We both had to rinse off in the cold salty Atlantic ocean afterward!

Calvin is home at last, and very tired from all his adventures in July!
